NightWing | The NSX is the modern day definition of a supercar. The definition of what a supercar is, much like other terms such as muscle car, has changed just as the industry has. So I mean, it all depends on which spectrum you're looking at it from. Would the hellcat be considered a muscle car back then, nope. But it sure is now, and it's one heck of a muscle car. |

But the fact it IS a supercar, there's no part supercar, it either IS or ISN'T. Acura sure classifies it as a supercar and overall it qualifies as one. But your mention of it being an entry-level supercar still stands |

Shawn | It would make the NSX an entry-level supercar. Not a legitimate Supercar but, you buy one when you want something special and can't justify or just can't attain a rarity. The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento for more recent reference. To be honest, I would be tempted to even call it a high-performance sports car.... tempted... |

If we're using the LaFerrari as a template of sorts for what qualifies as a supercar, then there won't be too many out there with that kind of power. What would that make the NSX? |

The term supercar has gotten tricky in the last few decades. When I was growing up, I remember seeing posters of cars like the Lamborghini Countach, Porsche 959, and Ferrari F40. Those were the first supercars my brain remembers, and they fit the bill perfectly. The outrageous performance was backed up by styling that appeared to come not from this planet. On top of all of that, the noise was otherworldly.
Today it seems people are quick to apply the supercar moniker to a wide range of cars. The Nissan GT-R is not a supercar. Instead, it's a pretty amazing machine that can do tremendous things, yet I don't think it will inspire a generation of future gearheads. I say that as a tremendous GT-R fan, mind you. A car can't simply be exotic either, to warrant the supercar title. A Ferrari California is no supercar, but the LaFerrari certainly should be considered one. Likewise, a Lamborghini Huaracan is an exciting exotic... but a car like the Reventon is a supercar. |

jdmnsx | It's not even price that puts it into the supercar range, if that was the only criteria then some Petebilt commercial truck could be considered a supercar. The criteria for what is classified as a supercar goes well beyond that. Price is actually the last thing if any. |
