It was a refreshing strategy compared to what they did with the Mustang that was under heavy wraps the entire development process. I wonder what the thinking is between the two strategies.

nexus some over at TOV think that this might be an early S1/2000 mule. Notice how its an ILX with the rear hatch of the current euro civic crafted on right about the mid-rear point. And the rear windows hasily tinted DARKLY not to mention the body not fitting the platform properly... for all we know there is a midship under there...

1fastAcura Should have said "NSX-like" if you still wanted to get clicks but not click bait

Same hybrid setup, but not the exact same engine.

The trio of the NSX, S1000 and S2000 would offer performance vehicles to buyers at all different income levels.

The new S2000 will likely make use of the NSX's hybrid powertrain. A tubrocharged mid mounted engine will send power to the rear wheels. Potential engines are a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder, or even a detuned version of the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder found in the Civic Type R. The front wheels will be powered by two electric motors in a setup that is similar to what we find in the Acura NSX. That would make for an AWD layout that could switch to zero emissions driving for short distances.

The rumor mill also suggests that the top configuration of the S2000 successor would produce over 300 hp. It also will likely use a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The S2000 successor hasn't received the green light for production yet. It's fate depends on Honda's performance in key markets like the USA and China. If profits are high then Honda can invest in low volume models like the S2000, but if profits aren't high then other projects will likely take higher priority.

Still, the S2000 could hit markets as soon as 2017, or even next year.

1fastAcura My guess is we'll see most of the colors in line with what the original one was like, alogn with some new colors

|\|SX feeling what this powertrain setup is like compared to the NSX is going to be a must

or at least seeing some feedback since this will be the closest some will ever get to owning an NSX.
