Some people take the risk. Just cover up your license plate at the track or remove them entirely.

If you happen to total it, tow it somewhere with no cameras, buy at least 10L of gasoline, pour it all over your NSX, light a match, and let it burn. Call insurance the day after, problem solved

Sounds like you have plenty of experience. Are you the guy who drove his Bugatti Veyron into the lake?

But joking aside, going to be a pain to deal with the insurance company for track days unless you already have a good track day record with them.

I would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids with that camera too..

Totally agree with you on that though. I've found a canadian track day insurance company, and they won't insure a vehicle that exceeds $150k

Has to be some company out there that specializes in insuring vehicles over $150k.
But on a serious note you'll often see people just taking the risk of running their cars at the track, some without a plate. Just an easy way to go about it

Just without setting it on fire.

That's true... and I mean .. it's not a Ferrari, so the car burning up isn't really a concern of mine

I wouldn't worry too much about the insurance

It's more of a safety net in case anything happens, especially when you're driving at high speeds. Most, if not all insurance policies state no competition, timed events or closed roads.

What would be interesting is polling people who do go to the track and see how many admit to not having a special insurance for track purposes. I bet most that are truthful won't have anything aside from regular vehicle insurance.
