New Honda UK Ad "Ignition" Features the NSX

Honda UK has put out a really cool new ad called "Ignition" that features many of Honda's most exciting products, including the NSX.

The spot begins with Honda's ASIMO robot. The robot looks into the sunset as a slew of Honda products are revealed. Those include a pair of sportbikes, the new HR-V, a Civic Type R, the NSX, the HondaJet and a pair of Formula 1 racers.

Quote:
Honda UK says the film was inspired by "Honda's daring spirit" and pays homage to "one of the boldest expressions of human curiosity and engineering endeavor: space flight," adding, "no other company has the heritage of engineering across as many categories: cars, motorbikes, robotics, aviation and racing."
The whole thing is very cinematic. Fun to watch, and really elevating the Honda brand and its products.

Lol, Was the 2016 NSX driver looking at a postcard of the older model? I can only make out 19## from it. Also cool to see that the drivers inside each vehicle reflects the market that they are targeted at.

Very cool. Love that there is the ASIMO robot. It might have been interesting to see the robot interact with a person. Would make it more of a real life product instead of an R&D project.

They can only include so much in a short commercial and they have a great line up including the NSX, their first jet and their revolutionary artificial intelligence.

You can find videos of Asimo interacting with people on YouTube and it's very interesting to watch when you have time.

All I'm saying is the rest of the products have a more human element to it and it would have been interesting to see the robot have that same human touch.

I think the head tilt when looking at the rising sun was Honda adding a human touch to ASIMO.

Perhaps. I've watched some videos to do with robots and AI that talk about the intricacies of human behaviour. Making eye contact, but not too much, tilting the head, etc... It's quite interesting and very complex.

Even when it comes to making facial expressions there's a lot that comes into play, a lot of your face moves. Seen a robot where they had about 10-14 actuators to help do just this.

Think about all the muscles in your face, and then think about how many different facial expression those can make. In computer graphics we see a lot of this at a higher level, but making a physical representation of it is much more difficult. Let alone making it reactive instead of programmed according to a predetermined narrative.
