2017 Acura NSX Is A Car Of The Future

At least thatís what Motor Authority thinks of the 2017 Acura NSX in their review.

Four long years later, enthusiasts can finally get their hands on the newest generation NSX. Acura took design inspiration from other supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia and Audi R8, and combined them to make it theirs. Large front air intakes and the side mirrorsí location was borrowed from Ferrari; Audi and Lamborghini features can be seen in the cloaked the air paths.

Sitting over the carís rear axle is technology thatís usually reserved for million-dollar hyper cars like the P1 or the Porsche 918. That twin-turbocharged V-6 engine and hybrid system delivers 573 horsepower and they come with an affordable price. Both direct and port injection can be found in the engine and the turbo runs at 15.2 psi for an exceptional sound.

All that power is funneled to all four wheels via a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission that sits with a limited-slip differential. Its all-wheel-drive system is sloppy driving proof, but in exchange for having a system that brings your rear back in line, the NSX does not have the same pinpoint precision that other supercars have.

The NSX is a halo car from Acura, filled with technology thatís been trickled down from super expensive vehicles and made more affordable. That is why the 2017 Acura NSX is a car of the future.

"All that power is funneled to all four wheels..." is an inaccurate statement. There is no differential with driveshafts that connect the engine with the front wheels. The front wheels are powered separately via the two electric motors. The 573hp isn't directly powering all four wheels at all.

Not really the future, haven't car companies been taking bits and pieces from their competitors and making it their own for years? The NSX is similar, but they put in their own powertrain.

Ford GT for example used the 458 Speciale to design it. This happens all the time.

Pretty much, the NSX isn't a car of the future as nothing overly special, and nothing that hasn't been done has shown up here.
