Who Makes the NSX is What Makes the NSX

The latest instalment of Honda's "What Makes a Honda is Who Makes a Honda" video series focuses on a familiar face, the Acura NSX.

Tomo Yokoi is a LA born and raised millennial, her gig was acting as the senior product planner for the new NSX. She was the go-to go between for R&D, manufacturing, sales and marketing. She was the de facto voice of the consumer during development.

Yokoi also acted as product planner for Acuras other recent success, the TLX. “When I look at the final product, I see a huge team effort, all focused on bringing the best possible experience to our customers”.

"It's a physical representation of Acura" and I can see why that is if it encompasses the best of engineering, manufacturing and customers from the sales point of view. Great to have a car enthusiast like her who has the customer's interest in mind.

well and i think this is what makes the NSX different then other sporty cars.

it doesnt compromise meeting needs for the sake of speed. Many manufacturers design their cars for the track first road second, the NSX is opposite of that me thinks...

The NSX was designed to be an everyday sports car so you can't really compare it to the super sports like Ferrari in terms of customer needs. Acura is more aimed at a market where we still want a bit of functionality on top of speed and they managed to hit that with the NSX.
It comes with a trunk! A sports car that comes with a sizable trunk.

Side note, apparently there's a whole series on Honda's youtube channel for "What Makes a Honda Is Who Makes a Honda".

Almost looks like you can fit a set of golf clubs in their, too bad there doesn't seem to be any reports about that!

Once reviews roll in we should be seeing journalists address that

I actually forgot they had a trunk in the NSX because most of the pictures we've seen was with the trunk lid down. Tomo probably told the design team that there must be a trunk of some sort in the NSX for customers to put a few bags in.
It actually looks decently sized in that picture, more than enough space to put whatever you need to lug around for the day in there even with the odd bump in the middle.

Well that was the case for a very good reason, when you're in the market for a vehicle like this, cargo space is the last of your worries. The typical supercar owner has at least 2-3 vehicles of their own, if not, rentals, or some alternative.

It may be the last of our worries but it's nice to know that the design team has what we may need in the future in mind.

Indeed, even better for some team that wants to set it up to make some serious power with forced induction since if turbos are added, it could require more space than is already available in the engine bay.
